Cubs’ Reported Refusal to Move Moises Ballesteros Holding up Trade Talks
According to MLB.com’s Mark Feinsand, the Cubs are declining to part with No. 2 prospect Moisés Ballesteros in trade talks. That is keeping some of their would-be moves from coming to fruition, which is interesting given his lack of positional flexibility. Of all the Cubs’ top prospects, Ballesteros seems to me like one they’d be more willing to part with.
It’s possible this is just a leverage play from one of any number of teams with which the Cubs are talking, so take everything with a grain of salt right now. Ballesteros is super hitterish and could develop enough power to make him a legit everyday DH even if he’s not able to stick behind the plate or at first. I just don’t know how high the ceiling is for him, and I’m more than a little surprised that the Cubs would be refusing to include him in talks.
Of course, that also depends on the return.
