Cubs Trade Gage Workman to White Sox for Cash

Gage Workman‘s time with the Cubs may be over, but he gets to stay in Chicago. Just three days after designating the spring training phenom for assignment, the Cubs announced that they have traded Workman to the White Sox in exchange for cash considerations. While it’s a bit of a surprise that he was claimed off waivers due to the regulations around Rule 5 draft picks, the Sox can take a little more of a risk because they’re an abject disaster.

Workman was never going to get another shot with the Cubs, who have too many other third basemen in the organization, so this is probably his best opportunity. That said, it’s easy to see the White Sox bungling this somehow.
