Cubs Reportedly Still Pursuing Trey Mancini

This will be super short because I’m at CubsCon, but it’s worth noting because a previous report indicated the Cubs might be out on Trey Mancini. As Michael Cerami of Bleacher Nation tweeted Saturday morning, however, the Cubs are still in on the former Oriole and Astro.

This is pretty interesting given the recent addition of Eric Hosmer, but Mancini is a right-handed hitter who is a better fit than Hosmer at DH. Landing Mancini would also provide a strong safety net for Matt Mervis, who is among the early favorites for NL Rookie of the Year.
