Ian Happ Exits After Being Hit on Knee, X-Rays Negative
While it was mostly all smiles for the Cubs after Saturday’s win over the Brewers, there was at least one event that could have put a big damper on the day. In the bottom of the 7th inning, with Chicago already leading 9-0, Ian Happ became the third Cub to get hit by a pitch.
While Willson Contreras and Nick Madrigal were able to shake off the balls that hit them, Happ was nailed by a fastball in the knee and went down to the ground hard.

He exited the game under his own power and looked to be walking just fine in the dugout after the incident but the team was plenty careful about making sure he’s fine. David Ross told the media after the game that things are “pointing to the good” and X-rays came back negative.
It certainly wouldn’t be a shock to see Happ on the bench for Sunday’s game just the same, particularly with Clint Frazier as a capable backup.
