Cubs Place Justin Steele on IL, Recall Brad Wieck
I know some of you out there just love the idea of pitchers batting, but it sure would be nice if Justin Steele hadn’t been running the bases too. The lefty reliever has been tremendous in 11 appearances for the Cubs, posting a 2.03 ERA with 21 strikeouts in 13.2 innings. However, he’s not on the IL with a tight hamstring suffered in Thursday’s win.
The Cubs have called up Brad Wieck to replace Steele, so their lefty contingent at least remains strong. Here’s to hoping the towering southpaw can be at least close to as effective Steele for whatever time he spends with the big club.
