Ben Zobrist Being Assigned to Myrtle Beach as Rehab Assignment Progresses
Ben Zobrist was just happy to get back to playing baseball and it showed as he took the field for the South Bend Cubs this past weekend. Though he only went 2-for-9 with a pair of singles, it was more about getting back up to game speed than actual results. The next step in that process, which will take the rest of August to play out, is going to take place at Myrtle Beach.
.@Cubs have announced that 2016 World Series MVP Ben Zobrist will be assigned to the Pelicans from August 8-August 10. Full info: https://t.co/E1qVnIx7dF

Though it’s still A-ball, the Pelicans offer a higher level of competition and should give Zo a little more of a test. If you don’t have weekend plans, it’s also a pretty great place to catch a game. Provided he performs well at high-A, a more extended stay at Tennessee could come next week.
