Cubs Clips: WATCH Theo Epstein Interview on MLB Network Talks Career, Philosophy, Draft & More
Theo Epstein, Chicago Cubs President of Baseball Operations, took some time while he was in Scottsdale, Arizona to sit down for an interview on MLB Network’s ‘The Hot Stove’ hosted by Matt Vasgersian and Harold Reynolds. It’s an insightful look into, arguably, baseball’s greatest mind.
Theo talks about his philosophy and approach to managing player relationships stating, “I always thought if I got in a leadership position I would go out of my way to be honest with players and create trust and relationships.”
There’s no question, it’s that genuine approach that has been a major contributor to Theo’s success. He understands, and communicates to the players and management, that baseball is a business but that doesn’t change the human dynamic that’s involved. It’s clear that Theo cares deeply, and shares a mutual respect, for a lot of players and that approach goes a long way towards building credibility and being able to transform a team into a world-class organization, such as he’s accomplished in both Chicago and Boston.
