The Rundown: Maddon “Prepared Not to Manage” in 2015, Giants Even Series with Lots of Singles, More Renovation Pics

With Joe Maddon Watch in full effect, his agent Alen Nero appeared on 670 the Score’s “Inside the Clubhouse” with Bruce Levine and Wayne Randazzo on Saturday.

While Nero admitted many teams are interested in Maddon (he said he has talked to 15 GMs so far), he said Maddon is prepared to sit out 2015.

Nero then went on to use the word “ironically” incorrectly more times than Alanis Morissette. “If you remember when we got Lou Piniella out of his job, ironically with Tampa, he spent a year with Fox network and he had a good year before he went on to ironically become the Cubs manager,” Nero said.

Could Maddon wait a year for more managerial openings to become available? Sure.

But I doubt it happens.

Giants rally to tie up series at 2

So apparently the Kansas City Royals’ bullpen isn’t invincible. Who knew?

LHP Brandon Finnegan, who has been a great story all throughout the playoffs after pitching this year in the College World Series before joining the Royals, was roughed up for five hits, two walks and five runs in the sixth inning.

Finnegan is the first player to appear in both the College World Series and the MLB World Series in the same year. Before Saturday’s outing, he had looked impressive for a rookie on the big stage.

The Giants had 16 hits in the 11-4 win. All but two of the hits were singles.

Other notes

* Bijan Rademacher remained hot, as the Mesa Solar Sox cruised to a 14-0 win on Saturday. Playing right field, Rademacher went 2-for-6 with a double and triple, one run scored and two knocked in. He is hitting .429 in the Arizona Fall League. Rademacher was the only Cub prospect to appear in the game.

* The Nationals will attempt to re-sign Jordan Zimmermann, Doug Fister and Ian Desmond this off-season, according to the Washington Post’s Adam Kilgore. Definitely something to monitor. I’d love to see Zimmermann in a Cubs uniform if he hits free agency after the 2015 season. If the Nationals can’t re-sign any of the three players, they may look to deal before free agency, Kilgore writes.
