Chicago Cubs Lineup (6/16/22): Swarmer on Hill, Wisdom 1B, Simmons 2B
If you’ve been paying any attention lately then you know the Cubs are on a reverse hot streak. That is to say, they’re really bad. During their current nine-game losing streak they’ve been outscored 84-26.
Yet, the construction of a new sportsbook at the corner of Addison and Sheffield moves forward. Because what’s most important here is that the Ricketts family sucks every last penny from all of Wrigleyville. Who knew winning a World Series would mean selling our souls?
It’ll be up to Matt Swarmer (1-1, 4.24 ERA) to end this losing streak but with the way the Cubs have been playing lately I wouldn’t put my money on it.
Swarmer has been very good in two of his three starts, allowing just two earned runs over 12 innings pitched. However, he gave up six runs on six home runs against the Yankees in his last outing, good for a 50% HR/FB rate. If Swarmer can keep the ball in the field of play tonight, and last six or seven innings, the Cubs should have a shot at ending this losing streak. Of course, that’s contingent on what the bullpen does or doesn’t do, as the case may be.
Christopher Morel is leading off playing center, Willson Contreras is catching, Ian Happ is DH, and Patrick Wisdom is at first. Rafael Ortega is in left, Nico Hoerner is at short, Jonathan Villar is at third, Jason Heyward is in right, and Andrelton Simmons is at second.
First pitch is scheduled for 1:20pm CT and the game will be broadcast on Marquee Sports Network and 670 The Score.
