Watch: Christopher Morel Reaches Base in 15th Consecutive Game, Steals Third, Scores on Errant Throw
Christopher Morel is making it nearly impossible for the Cubs to even think about sending him back to the minors anytime soon. He just extended his club record for a rookie by reaching base safely in each of his first 15 games with a leadoff walk in the 1st inning.
Willson Contreras came up to bat next and singled to move Morel to second base. Morel and Contreras then executed a double steal, with the Brewers’ catcher, Omar Narvaez, opting to throw to third base in an attempt to pick off Morel. It didn’t work. Mainly because, well, Christopher Morel.
Morel came home to score the Cubs’ first run.
