Chicago Cubs Lineup (Game 2 – 5/7/22): Contreras Leading Off, Suzuki Playing RF, Norris on Mound
The first game of today’s doubleheader did not go well, friends. That’s the bad news. The good news is the Cubs will get a chance to redeem themselves in the second game tonight.
Lefty Daniel Norris (0-1, 6.00 ERA) will take the hill tonight for the spot start, which is not likely to last more than two innings. It will surely be a bullpen game, with the hopes being that Norris can somehow survive unscathed the first time through the vaunted Dodgers order.
Willson Contreras is hoping to break out of his early-season funk as he leads off tonight as DH. Seiya Suzuki is batting .178 with a .245 OBP from the number two position in the order, and yet David Ross has him right back there again playing right field. Perhaps Ross is seeing something we aren’t.
Ian Happ is batting third playing left field, Patrick Wisdom is batting cleanup playing third base, followed by Frank Schwindel at third base, Jonathan Villar at second base, Jan Gomes catching, Nico Hoerner playing shortstop, and Michael Hermosillo playing center field.
The Dodgers will start LHP Tyler Anderson, who’s had a good start to the season with a 2.55 ERA, two wins and no losses. His career ERA is 4.56, which includes his start so far this season. In six full seasons, Anderson has finished with an ERA below 4.00 just once, in his rookie campaign. So, it feels like he’s due to have a game soon where he implodes just a little bit. Or at least we can hope so.
Game time is 6:40pmCT and it can be seen and heard on Marquee Sports Network and 670 The Score.
