Pete Crow-Armstrong Added to Baseball America’s Latest Top 100 Prospect Rankings

Pete Crow-Armstrong has been tearing it up for the Chicago Cubs Low-A affiliate Myrtle Beach to start the season. In 68 at-bats he’s slashing .382/.481/.603 with 21 R, 18 RBI, and 3 HR. The performance has been so good that the general expectations are that we may be seeing him soon in South Bend.

The 20-year-old Armstrong is now included in Baseball America’s latest Top 100 Prospect Rankings ($), debuting at No. 95. Per BA:

“A 2020 first-round pick the Cubs acquired from the Mets in the trade for Javier Baez, Crow-Armstrong has the calm approach, exceptional plate discipline and growing power to be an impact hitter. He pairs that with instinctive, graceful defense in center field and has a chance to win Gold Glove awards.”

The Cubs now have four prospects included in BA’s Top 100, with Brennen Davis at 15 (up from 16), Seiya Suzuki at 32 (up from 36), and Cristian Hernandez at 79 (up from 81).

It is undoubtedly good news that all of the Cubs’ prospects are moving up the list instead of the other way, particularly since it’s clear the big league team is in need of some talent soon. Although, with the exception of Davis and Suzuki, who is already in Chicago, most of the Cubs’ top prospects are still a couple of years from making the jump to MLB.
